Constructivist Learning Environment

I started my research on constructivist learning environments and have found some pretty interesting links and books along the way. I found Google to have the fastest way to get to the information I was looking for but kept thinking how much of it is really legit. It was also reader friendly. Google scholar I felt more comfortable in as far as reliable information was concerned but their text was harder to read. The LIU Library was a bit confusing. I tried searching through different medias and found so much information it could take me months to read it all.

Google search: Constructivism — particularly in its "social" forms — suggests that the learner is much more actively involved in a joint enterprise with the teacher of creating ("constructing") new meanings.

Picture this… You walk through the doors of this classroom into what you thought was a classroom but feels more like a home. There are many areas to explore in this room. Space for students to move around and bulletin boards that pop out at you which make you think about it and promotes conversations amongst the students. Which could lead to them doing experiments and posing hypothesis about the topic. Getting the students actively engaged in what they are learning. They will build upon their prior knowledge by constructing their own understanding of the topic at hand. The teacher is the facilitator and the students are the driving force behind their own learning. Peers become the resources, much like our TEAM, rather than taking in the information for memory. This classroom has meaning behind it, it makes the studnts think about things and how they relate to them, it also focuses on them being creative and possible comming up with something the world didn't know it needed!!
